Kitchen Basics

“Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.”

This famous saying is one of the foundations for the creation of our upcoming virtual cook-along workshop series, called Kitchen Basics.

Healthy eating can be difficult on its own, but when cooking is added to the challenge, it can make it even harder, especially when trying to manage a health condition like high blood pressure or diabetes.

Kitchen Basics is a virtual cook-along workshop. This program is built for anyone who wants to learn how to cook healthy meals that are easy to make. Participants are invited to attend a 90-minute introductory workshop that will show you how to cook a healthy and tasty meal along with fundamental skills in the kitchen such as food safety and knife handling.

Following this, participants are welcome to join any number of our other cook-along classes to continue to practice their new skills in the kitchen! Follow up workshops are 75 minutes long and focus on leading you through how to prepare healthy balanced meals that taste great!

In this dynamic and positive workshop series, participants will increase their confidence in preparing simple and approachable recipes with the support of two dietitians. Each class, participants will be provided with a guide on how to prepare a recipe in advance and cook-along during the workshop, all from the comfort of their kitchen!
